We visited a family of meerkats, 14 in all. They live in colonies, and they stand tall to keep an eye open for predators like eagles and jackals. One of their favorite foods is scorpions. They all curl up together at night to keep warm in the chilly Kalahari evenings. They were also very friendly, as you can see in the next page!
